It feels almost pointless to try to name individual tracks on an album that packs so much power. “Vacancy” and “Anodyne Sea” use the same formula to make for the signature AILD sound. It is melodically infectious and easily placed on repeat for ten or twenty listens. If “The Darkest Nights” had the influence and sound from An Ocean Between Us, you would get “Parallels.” The track stands out as the ideal single of the group, with an interesting intro, metal verses and a gigantic chorus a la Gilbert. Never fear though the clean vocals may be fewer, but their shine is even more immense than before. Moshers will surely unite in the heavy riffage and blazing solos, going ape-shit in the process. “Without Conclusion” and “Condemned” certainly contribute to this thinking, all hitting hard without any clean vocals to speak of. When “Beyond Our Suffering” hit the band’s MySpace, many wondered aloud if a deathmetal route was in store for the new tunes. All the maturity gained through years of experience was used to revisit a darker vibe in a new way that sounds fantastic and brutal.

And the “nothing left” part of this song is saying that there is hardly any faith left in god and people believe they are alone and fragile in this world. “This song is basically slapping you in the face saying you need to see what horrible people we have become, where we shun others who are different from us, instead of treating them like a normal human being. I believe this song is addressing humanity as a whole and not just Christians since we aren’t the only ones that can fall into an almost robotic mold.”ģ. Only through struggle are we able to break this mold and have the machine in our chest removed. I think it is about how the world wants to take each individual and conform him into a robot with gears that turn to make emotions and assembled thoughts. “I think there is more than JUST being deceived about love.
